Sam - because I know you'll look here - Yes, in theory I could import my blogger enteries, however, blogger depends on ftp to run, and my new server only has scp. I looked into it, and importing the blogger enteries requires changing the original blogger template by adding in mt tags. However, since I can no longer ftp to my site in blogger, I cannot change the older template.
Unless I go into the files by hand. Which I might. Eventually. I haven't read all of the instructions yet.

Erin- Could you make your blog a bit thinner? Horizontal scroll=no good.

Umm, erin, you're on crack, dear :) none of the stuff you mentioned has ANYTHING to do with the import/export process. Change your blogger and MT passwords to something you don't care if i know, and i'll import/export them for you.

Horizontal scroll? Crack? What are you people talking about?!
ET - uh... I'm not having to scroll horizontally. What are you, in Netscape or something?
Sam - Okaaaaay... so I didn't read the fine print terribly closely. It turns out that so long as I can change my settings without having to ftp, it might be OK. Maybe. Here's what I'm baing this on:
Movable Type User Manual: IMPORTING YOUR ENTRIES
Exporting Blogger Entries
4. Enter the Settings area for this blog.
Change your Blog Filename to a different filename; this will prevent you from overwriting your main index file.
In Formatting, set your blog to display all of your posts on the main index page. There is no explicit setting for this; instead, you should change the number of days displayed on your front page (Show N days' posts on main page) higher than the number of days that you have been blogging.
Set Date/Time Format to the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS AM|PM. (Note: the format will not look like this in the menu; instead it will be the current time, formatted.)
Set Convert Line Breaks to No.
Set Archive Frequency to No Archive. This will prevent your archives from being overwritten with the new template.
Switch back to the Posts screen, and Publish your blog. You will end up with a single file with all of your posts, formatted using the above template, at the location specified in your Settings. Download this file to your local hard drive.

with blogger, you could even just publish temporarily to http://anythingyourheartdesires.blogspot.com/
then go to that spot and use netscape (not IE) to save that file as an html file and upload it from home.

How do I publish all my old archive back on blogspot?
I mean, I know how to re-direct blogger, but that doesn't move all the files I created when I was hosting the archives myself via good old ftp.

I'm in IE and your blog is so fat that it has a horizontal scroll. Augh! Okay, all the content fits on the screen, but the text from your posts run right up against the vertical scroll. Anyway, do you see a horizontal scroll at the bottom of the window?

ET: the horizontal scroll is because you're crazy and have your screen resolution set to something amazingly small like 640 or 800. :)

Right, I get it, all the post on one page... but then wouldn't I have to refresh it? Or save the settings? No changes will go through... I guess I could redirect to blogspot, put all the post on one page, and then do it...
But what a pain in the ass! I'm the opposite of Maggie in this sense: Going to the gym = problem. Changing a lot of code = ultimate laziness.

I'm really not sure what the problem is... It's a matter of 5 minutes, pretty much. use the blog template that the movable type help provided you with, paste that into your blogger template space, change your blogger settings for date, and to publish all 300 entries on main page, and publish to temporary.blogspot.com and save that file. then put that file into movable type and you're done.

OKay, you can't blame the current crazy wideload action on my monitor settings. C'mon!
