So, Erin. Explain the ending of NGE to me, because I do not understand it at all. 25 and 26 are just a confusing mess of images of Shinji coming to grips with himself as a purpose. There is no closure that I can see. Did I miss something?
It is a very, very good series. Probably my favorite so far.

I just did. It's a better ending, although it's not what I'd hoped for. I don't get why Shinji tries to kill Asuka in the end (or where the bandage on her eye came from), or really, much of anything else. Ah well.

The movies are fer wimps! The ending was about Shinji finally accepting himself. It was a perfectly fine ending, but nooooo, people whined and so there was an ending with guns and stuff made. Bleah. The movies may've provided more closure in terms of the plot, but were just filler otherwise. All the character development and emotional involvement ended with the real ending.
Note that I find the news of a new movie pretty exciting. Whee!
