Parmalat Announces New Slogan: Parmalat! It's similar to milk!
Posted by erin at April 24, 2003 10:47 AMTime for a quick update on my life:
- As you can tell from my new blog background, I've been reading the Nausicaa manga. Sometimes reading said manga causes me to shout at fellow commuters "This is SOOO GOOD!!!"
- Anime Boston was sold out! N. had never been to a sold out convention in all of his long, veteran conventioning career. We still managed to hang out with the CPM folks, and had fun.
- Boston is a nice town! It's very clean and has a pleasant smell. A class act all the way! More on this later?
- Efforts to write Jerksquad! The Movie continue, despite rampant writers block, self-doubt, and OCD.
- I'm considering trying to get fired from my job. I could get a nice severance package and unemployment pay. Hal has offered to help.
- The dieting hasn't been going as well in the past couple of weeks. I'm not too happy about that, but I am re-doubling my efforts.
- I seriously have it bad for Nausicaa. Seriously.

A good cure for writer's block is to delete all games on your computer and disconnect your internet connection. If you have a laptop or can borrow one, go and write in the library.
Also, maybe you could write at work. Then you could accomplish both working on the screenplay and getting fired, at once.

Addendum: if possible go to a library or a section of a library that is about a subject that you don't care about and don't understand. That way the books won't tempt you.

Ah! I should go to the law library.
I don't like laptop keyboards, although I probably would have done that already...
Fortunately my boss isn't here today, so I am, in fact, writing at work. I wrote my last screenplay at work quite a bit as well, the only difference was that I was more secretive about it.
My internet connection failed a couple minutes ago, so that gave me the boost I needed to get started.
It's actually very hard to get fired from here. The last girl in my group who wanted to get fired agreed to get laid off, and that was after months of not doing anything.

Erin, this is awesome! You should totally try harder to get fired. I know it's insane, but it strikes some noble note in me or something. If in doubt, know that I support you in this endeavor!
And good luck with your writing!

Boston also has a really cheap mass transit system. Last time I was there, it was just $.80 and clean and quick. Plus, they have excellent used book stores in the Harvard Square area.

Also they have the scariest drivers in the United States, and the city effectively closes down at 10pm, and the public tranist stops running at night.

I found that the mass transit cost $1 and shuts down at 2am.

I haven't been to Boston in a while, so the fare may've gone up, but the shopping district was dead at 8pm. College areas presumably have more of a nightlife.
