The Quest Blog
Posted by erin at February 12, 2004 02:27 PMRight, so the Quest Blog is open for business. I put a capital letter in the URL just to be annoying: http://www.erinfinnegan.com/Quest/
N. wanted this blog to be created so we can keep a compilation of accounts of our journeys in Hal's D&D game. I'd like to see Mr. N. post some sort of mission statement for this blog... but, in short, its supposed to be a place for different characters to post their accounts of what happened (Eorl's being dictated, 'cause he's illiterate), and a place for us to upload scans of maps and clues.
Here's the important bit: Everyone has an account. Your log in is your name, and your password is also so your name, so I suggest you log in and change it. Here are the people I gave accounts to: Hal, Kerry, N., Sam, Adan, AngryRabbit, Dan, Maggie and Takako.
Comments do not appear by default, but you can check the box and allow them if you want on a per-entry basis. N. requested this feature, I think because enteries are supposed to be from a character's point of view, but I'm not exactly sure.
I'm not sure about a lot of things on the Quest blog.

Well, I dunno about a mission statement, but the idea was that we were having such a difficult time recounting all the events that have transpired since the beginning of the campaign (lo these years ago) I thought it might be best if each character got a chance to tell his or her own story (or saga, if you will) from what he or she can recall, and then compare notes.
The story should come from the way *you* remember it, mind you - nobody can tell you that you're wrong and that you didn't actually slay the boar of Caledon, or whatever. Unless you enable comments, that is. Then they can tell you that. But let me tell you, in my own case, Eorl is not a comments-enabling kind of a guy.
Of course, nobody _has_ to do anything - it's only if you want to. I'm not going hock anybody for contributions.
Additionally (time allowing), I am going try drafting generic summaries of each play session from now on, consisting of events, new Igwulf information, etc. They will possibly include blow-by-blow accounts of battles for later analysis. This may not happen, because it's kind of ridiculous. I'm just saying is all.
The quest blog is also a place to scan in maps and campaign cards so they don't get lost. It's a nice centralized location to keep everything, which works against Hal's evil machinations to keep us moving in circles... forever.
Incidentally, AK gets most of the credit for this because I got the idea after reading Heloise's diary on her old site. She needs an account as well, as does, in fact, anyone who ever played in the campaign, however briefly. It would be swell to get accounts from people who haven't played in years.
Unfortunately, I'm not actually "down" with the practical aspects of this so-called "blogging" thing, and my learning curve is more severe than most, so, uh, don't anybody wait on me - it's there for everyone's use and is unmoderated. I'll, uh, catch up.

I have lots of maps from long time ago - they're at Ryan's so I'll be scanning them in when I move back, which will be by March 8th. Hooray!

Oh! I did make AK an account! I even looked up Agineska so I'd spell it right.
(If it didn't work let me know.)
But I don't think like, Will, or Rebecca read this blog... and who else? Gah!

I have two journals mostly filled up with accounts of the early parts of the adventure. However, they are at my parents house. I will probably be visiting them in June, so I can bring the journals to NYC then and whoever wants them can have them. My penmenship sucks, and some parts of the journals are on the chronicle of Heloise already. But I can write something from what I remember.
I may also have Pip's character sheet somehwere. Pip is dead and was illiterate so I'm not sure it would be appropriate to have anythign by here.
Having a blog for your D&D campaign is one of the most dorky things I have ever heard of.

Cuffs, did you actually sign me up for an account? Did Kerry log in as everyone and change their passwords?

AK- Pip can give missives from Valhalla.
Cuffs- Rebecca never played, but Jen did. I suppose it's easy to confuse AK's roommates.

When I see Jen next I will tell her that she could put up an account of her adventures, if she wishes.

Yes "Hal" I did sign everyone up, and I can change your password if Kerry botched it.

Oh my god, it's only a matter of time before you're the awful link of the day.
