Witch Hunter Robin Drinking Game
Posted by erin at February 19, 2004 12:32 AMThe dub of Witch Hunter Robin has started airing on Cartoon Network at midnight. After seeing the first two episodes, here's my Witch Hunter Robin Drinking Game:
- Drink every time characters speak over a still background to save money.
- Drink every time Robin, or anyone else, drinks coffee.
- Drink every time CGI is used for no reason. Example: A CGI elevator or window.
- Drink every time someone says "witch."
- Drink every time someone says "craft."
- Drink every time someone says "Robin."

Also, drink every time the one measly power the antagonist witch possesses is SUPER LAME.
And I had such high hopes for the series, too.
After all, Robin is, in her own right, a fire priestess.

I like this series, a lot. Its muted, but the style works for me. Yes, its often a little bit too dry, but I've been really enjoying it and haven't missed an episode.
As for the badguys having lame powers, I missed the first few episodes, so I don't know what powers they had, but the ones I've seen haven struck me as lame. A few have struck me as a bit underpowered, but that's it.
keep with the show, I think its worth it.
Also, do the first eposides explain what exactly the Factory does with the whiches when get them? Do they just restrain them?

Firstly - Dan, you're nuts.
Secondly - No, I don't think they've explained what is done with captured witches, although they make a real big deal out of the fact that they capture them. I could've easily missed it though, since a scant 30 seconds of uninterrupted viewing puts me in a deep coma.

Its quite possible I'm nuts, but my attitudes toward this show in no way reflect on that possiblity.
Also, the show is really starting to get good. Its as if the first eposides, granted their were like like eight of them, were used to set up these subtle relationships between Robin and her coworkers, and to let us get to know them all.
Now the real plot has started, and its really good. Is the STNJ trying to kill Robin? Is she a witch after all? The last two eposides have ended with me not wanting to wait for the next eposoide!
Not that's its suddenly turned into a more tereotypical anime with super powered school girls jumping around half naked saving the world every five minutes. But it has shaken a lot of its dry, subdued feel behind. Now its not muted so much as really cryptic.

Well, the first eight episodes seemed as if the show's creators were heavily medicated - you know, on sedatives. If I were also on sedatives, the first few episodes may have been a lot easier to watch.
I have heard that the show's pace picks up. But does the voice acting get better?

I'll give you that the show's voice acting isn't one of its strong points. On the plus side, they don't talk a lot.
Some of the voice acting I've hard is bad, but most of it has been passable.

I gave up after the first few episodes. Too boring.
That said, are there only like 8 people doing voice dubs for anime? It's really odd to watch this and hear Vash the Stampede's voice.
