25 Years of Cookies Missed
Posted by erin at April 16, 2004 01:08 PMSo N. tells me last night that people traditionally give away free cookies on tax day. WHAT?!!? I've never heard of this! Never once have I gotten a free cookie on April 15th!! That's 25 years of free cookies I've been missing, since my birthday is next Wednesday.
Fun Facts about my birthday:
- Also Stella's birthday.
- I share a birthday with Robert Smith (of the Cure), Iggy Pop, Tony Danza, Grand Canyon explorer Robert Powel, and Queen Elizabeth
- The day before my birthday is Earth Day and Hitler's birthday.
- My parents already got me something - a subscription to NewType USA magazine.
- N. is making a contribution towards a new computer as a gift.
- What I really want is a Hello Kitty Rice Maker. I figure there's nothing more Japanese than that.
Also my driver's license will expire, so I went to the DMV to get a new one. What a giant pain in the ass! This list of proofs of identity is complicated, and different, it seems, from the list they handed me at the office, and different still from what they actually accepted from me. To complicate matters I couldn't find my birth certificate (a certified copy) and my passport expired in 1998, so I had no real valid proof of my birth, but they ended up accepting my passport anyways.
And then the next day I happened to find my birth certificate by chance at the bottom of a giant box of crap I was sorting out. Also they took my old license, so now my expired passport and paper driver's license are my only proofs of ID until they mail me a new license in about a month.

Won't you get carded at the bar to drink? Don't you need a photo id for that?

That may depend on the bar... I don't often get carded anymore, but maybe I'm just starting to look old :(

I don't usually get carded anymore, especially when N. is there, because he looks really old.

N. does look old. I think it's his swarthy, hirsute physique.
