I just realized that I didn't actually write anything on my blog yesterday. Oh well.
Today I found many answers on the internet to burning questions I had left over from Otakon, such as:
What is Super Milk about? What the hell is Excel Saga? Who is that character everyone is dressed as with green hair, an apron, and giant bells? (Answer: DiGi Charat)
Yesterday I went to "work out" at my gym. That was interesting. Today I am finally meeting that producer whom I mentioned ages ago. I think she just wants to "network."
I also got a lot of unpacking done yesterday. My room is a tiny, cozy hobbit-hole.
I have also been posted almost once a day on the Conversatron this week. Thu Aug 8 16:39:46 2002 Erin [e]
| You are 60% geek | | You are a geek. Good for you! Considering the endless complexity of the universe, as well as whatever discipline you happen to be most interested in, you'll never be bored as long as you have a good book store, a net connection, and thousands of dollars worth of expensive equipment. Assuming you're a technical geek, you'll be able to afford it, too. If you're not a technical geek, you're geek enough to mate with a technical geek and thereby get the needed dough. Dating tip: Don't date a geek of the same persuasion as you. You'll constantly try to out-geek the other. | Take the Polygeek Quiz at Thudfactor.com Fri Aug 9 10:22:42 2002

Bruno has an imac! That's it, all of you crazy people getting macs and stuff, I'm getting one too, you'll see! Wed Aug 7 12:19:16 2002
Erin
Yeah... better pay off your credit card first, there, Magagie. Then you can pay it off again! Wheee!
Actually, Bruno has an imac because Macintosh always does product placement in Hollywood and on TV. Wed Aug 7 15:47:22 2002 Maggie
Yeah, yeah. Do they get paid for putting imacs in the comic strip? 'cause I can make a comic strip all about imacs, if you'd like. Hell, I'll make two! Thu Aug 8 12:10:13 2002

Holy shit! I've been reading the Bruno archives; on December 31st, 2000 she gets hit by a car, then she's in a coma until sometime in March of 2001, during which time she has bizarre avant-garde dreams. The dreams are some kind of weird spiritual journey. It's like the token drug-up-alice-in-wonderland episode of any given TV show.
Am I Furi Kuri (FLCL)'s only fan? Perhaps not, as I am converting N. to The Way.
For those of you not "in the know," FLCL is a nearly incomprehensible anime series by studio Gainex. In short, it is about (in this order) rock and roll, the awkwardness of adolescence, robots, and baseball. Put another way, FLCL is about a boy who's head is being used as an inter-dimensional transport device, so occasionally giant robots spring painfully out of his skull. Meanwhile, a strange girl who is super-humanly good at baseball and totally obsessed with her Vespa has come to live in the boy's room and act as the family's maid. She knows something about the robots.
At Otakon they have an event known as Anime Music Videos, for which N. has a certain affinity. Hard-core Otaku re-edit pieces of their favorite series/movies to a song. One can download such AMV's if one has the bandwidth and the patience to find them. http://www.animemusicvideo.com (Warning: Like any other category of things, 90% of all AMV's really suck.)
Anyhow, one of the videos that one a prize this year was FLCL cut to NIN's "Perfect Drug." It made a good music video, and raised many interesting questions about the rest of the series, as I have only seen the first 4 episodes of the series, and N. only one episode. Our curiosity is peaked. I much watch the rest of FLCL.
All day today I have been trying to fight off sleep. This could be due to the dream I had last night. I dreamed I was at a party at Ryan's wherein a high school goth club with homemade angel wings was also in attendance. I've forgotten most of it. I kept waking up to check the time.
Today the weather is great! It is so clear I can see for miles and miles to the horizon. I'm sure you care. Tue Aug 6 16:26:54 2002

I like today's Bruno comic.
The move-in process continues. There is a certain amount of irony in how I battled most of the summer with my last roommate to get cable and air conditioning, and when we finally got both I had to move out. Now I am without cable and a/c again. Back to the drawing board.
There was a premier of a really funny show on cartoon network's Adult Swim last night, "The Oblongs." It was originally meant for network television, but may have been cancelled before it ever aired, and you could tell why:
The Oblongs are a family of freaks. The father has no arms or legs, two of his sons are conjoined twins (attached at the hip), the baby daughter has a growth on her head that resembles a penis, and the mother is a chronic alcoholic who has lost all her hair. The other son, although less freakish, has ADD and some psychotic disorders and goes to "special school." Can you tell it's a cartoon about not fitting in? Mon Aug 5 16:44:55 2002

Move completed. We even managed to get the couch in! Huzzah!
Special thanks to Maggie, for driving everywhere and getting the truck, and to Tim and Hal and Kari for being good sports and carrying a lot of heavy crap. And Noah did a good job, too, in case he ever reads this. Even if he was a bit grumbly about the whole thing, and a couch nay-sayer.
Anyhow. I think there's some rain moving in. The clouds look super-cool!
I am now off to my free session with a personal trainer. I joined a gym! Wheeee! Thu Aug 1 17:02:03 2002
